HU Dining is happy to offer a wide variety of cuisines and options.
Our dining program prides itself on being forward-thinking, innovative, and dynamic. Our professional chefs develop menus that include vegan and vegetarian options and cater to those with special dietary needs. We are always happy to discuss our menus to accommodate your specific needs.

First Year Dining Plans
All residents living in the required Dining plan dorms will be automatically assigned the Traditional 14 Dining Plan. All dorms, except Howard Plaza Towers East & West, are considered required meal plan dorms.
Plans will be assigned when housing is assigned. To change to another plan, please visit Bison Web or contact the Bison One Card Office.

How Do I Sign Up For A Meal Plan?
For first-year students living on campus in a required Meal plan residence hall, the Traditional 14 Meal Plan will be automatically assigned to your account when your housing is assigned.
If you wish to make changes to your Meal plan (to switch to the Traditional 19, Block 170 or Block 140), visit the StarRez Portal or visit the Bison One Card Office located on the 1st floor of the iLab at 2301 Georgia Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20059. The last day to make changes to your Fall or Spring Meal plan is the 2nd Friday of classes.
How Does My Meal Plan Work?
Meal Swipes can be used at our dining halls, Bethune Annex and Blackburn Cafe, and expire based on the meal plan type (Traditional vs Block) and at the end of the semester. Traditional meal plan swipes reset every Friday. Block plans come with an allotted number of meal swipes for the entire semester.
Dining Dollars can be used at all HU Dining locations including the dining halls, Chick-fil-A, Punch Out, 1867 Cafe, Bison Brew, the Markets, Simply To Go and the Food Trucks.
Dining Dollars expire at the end of each semester.
What's The Difference Between Dining Dollars And Bison Bucks?
Dining Dollars are sales tax exempt funds that can be used at all HU Dining locations including the Food Trucks and are conveniently loaded onto your Bison ID. Dining Dollars expire at the end of each semester. Bison Bucks information may be found here.
What Dining Options Are Available To Students With Dietary Needs?
NNutritional information for menu items, including common food allergens, is available on our Everyday app, as well as listed on all menu identifiers in our dining halls.
Mindful dishes are also available at our dining halls for those interested in healthy options with lower calorie and sodium content.
If you follow a religious diet, rest assured that you'll find plenty of options at Howard University. Halal-certified chicken and beef, along with Midde-Eastern favorites like falafel, are available at the Halal Shack in the Punchout (located in the Blackburn Center).
Howard offers a variety of clearly labeled vegan and vegetarian options at multiple dining stations. Each dining hall has a dedicated vegan or plant-based station that offers desserts as well!
