In 2015, Howard University teamed up with Partnership for a Healthier America to provide healthier food options for students on campus. As continuing partners, Howard University Dining regularly participates in Healthy Campus Week, the last week week in September which is dedicated to promoting healthier lifestyle habits. From cooking demonstrations to #FruitandVegetableFriday, HU Dining has celebrated the benefits of eating healthier on campus. In 2019, HU Dining partnered with Auxiliary Enterprises, Department of Nutrition Sciences, Human Resources, and Student Health to host Howard's second-ever Farmers Market with fresh and local fruits, vegetables, and cider from Keany Produce.
In January 2019, HU Dining made the commitment to exclusively offer paper straws, diverting plastic straws from landfills. Additionally, HU Dining retail locations offer recyclable containers for to-go orders.
